As we've been planning for the future of Conscious Clothing, one of the things I wanted to focus on is making our colors and styles go well together. When I first explained this to the team, I said, “You know, like Garanimals!” Doug remembered them, but the rest of the team had no idea what I was talking about. Garanimals was a line of kids clothing from the 70’s and 80’s that used animal tags to put different pieces together. For example, you could buy the giraffe line, and all the pieces had giraffe tags and were designed to go together - shirts, shorts, pants, dresses, skirts all were meant to be put together, so the kid could choose their pieces and they looked good together.
When refreshing the French Terry collection we wanted to make sure every piece came in every color and all the colors went together as well as with our linen, fleece, and jersey pieces. We took inspiration from our best selling linen colors and our favorite existing French Terry colors and came up with our new line custom dyed just for us. Add to that the fact that French Terry is one of the most comfortable fabrics to put on your body that keeps you warm in the cool temps and cool in warmer temps, you have an incredibly versatile piece of clothing!
I never got to own a set of Garanimals, but I do have several French Terry pieces that I mix and match regularly and I absolutely love them! I put my plum Eleanor pants with the Sepia Atlas Cardigan for one of my favorite outfits. Put all the colors together, you cannot go wrong.
